I open my heart and creativity to everything I can do with love!
My first series of articles for the Abayomi Academy Blog I will call “Synonym of Happiness“, which can be understood in various ways, and different cultures and philosophies offer unique perspectives on this broad and complex concept. Among these perspectives, four terms stand out that reflect essential aspects of the pursuit of happiness:
Resilience. *. Lightness *. Occupation. *. Ikigai.
Resilience, at its core, represents the ability to face adversity and overcome challenges with determination and flexibility. Those who cultivate resilience can adapt to life’s changes, learn from difficult experiences, and find strength even in the most adverse situations. Thus, resilience is a path to happiness, as it allows people to face life’s ups and downs with a positive and constructive attitude.
Lightness is another important dimension of happiness, characterized by a sense of fluidity, freedom, and carefreeness. Cultivating lightness means letting go of the weight of worries and finding joy in the simple moments of life. It is about learning to appreciate the beauty around us, to laugh easily, and to embrace inner serenity. In the pursuit of happiness, finding this lightness can be as important as achieving tangible goals.
Occupation, in turn, refers to meaningful engagement in activities that bring satisfaction and purpose to life. Finding an occupation that resonates with our interests, talents, and values can bring a deep sense of fulfillment and contentment. Whether in work, the arts, volunteering, or personal hobbies, dedicating ourselves to something we love and that positively challenges us can be a powerful source of happiness and meaning.
Lastly, the Japanese concept of Ikigai offers a unique perspective on the pursuit of happiness. Ikigai can be translated as “reason for being” or “purpose in life.” It refers to what motivates us to wake up in the morning, to find meaning in our daily actions, and to feel that our life has a greater purpose. Finding and living according to our Ikigai is a journey of self-discovery and self-expression that can lead to a profound sense of fulfillment and lasting happiness.
Come with me, and together, we will discover that it is possible to be happy in the face of adversity and that these obstacles are tools and part of the path to a fuller life.
