🌍🏙️ We are thrilled to introduce Filipa Corais, our newest columnist in the Conscious Citizenship section! Filipa is an architect and urban planner with a strong academic and professional background in sustainable mobility and urban planning. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Architecture of the University of Minho, funded by the MIT-Portugal/FCT research grant. Her academic journey includes a degree in Architecture from the University of Coimbra and a master’s in Urban Environment Planning and Design from the University of Porto.

🚶‍♀️💡 Since 2016, Filipa has been serving as the Head of the Mobility Division at the Municipality of Braga, where she leads innovative projects that foster more people-friendly and accessible cities. Her expertise also extends to academia, where she has been invited to lecture at various institutions, including the University of Minho, the University of Pará in Belém, and the University of Heidelberg.

🏆 Her work has earned significant recognition, including the Abayomi Academy International Award 2024 🥇 in the Conscious Citizenship category, the European Mobility Week Award 2022 from the European Commission, and the Ciudades e Vilas que Caminan 2023 award. Additionally, she played a key role in the Honorable Mention of the National Sustainability Award 2030, with the “Áreas Mais” project in Braga, and in winning the UM Cidades Award – Municipality of the Year 2018 for the SchoolBus project.

Now, she brings her expertise to the Abayomi Academy Blog, where she will write in both Portuguese and English, sharing insights and experiences on how we can build more inclusive, sustainable, and smart cities.
